Thanksgiving dinner was served at the Fraternite Notre Dame on Wednesday,
November 21, 2001. Dinner consisted of turkey with stuffing, cranberry
sauce, yams, mashed potatoes, carrots, with delicious desserts of pumpkin,
apple, coconut custard pies.
There
were refreshing drinks served all in the spirit of the holiday. The
soup kitchen was decorated festively in the fall colors.
Bette,
Paul, Andy, and Scott Schneiderman, Morty Eydenberg, Douglas Kerrigan,
and Jeff Podell helped to serve the 200 hungry people who attended the
luncheon.
We
assisted the staff of the soup kitchen (Sister Mary Valerie, Sister
Mary René, and the Bishop who did a fabulous job washing the
pots and pans and keeping things moving swiftly), and it was truly a
spiritual experience for us to participate in this wonderful holiday
meal.
The
guest workers even learned how to use the famous manual French can opener,
but not without expert tutoring from the Bishop.
The Schneidermans (and Morty) thank all the members of the Fraternite
for allowing us the privilege of working with you.
Congratulations to Bishop Kozik, and all the members of the Fraternite
for all the wonderfull work you do. It is an honor to be able to participate
in your worthy deeds.
